Libya is a Northern African country that was influenced by ancient Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Italians. Combined with its indigenous Berber population, this country can really be called a melting pot of cultures. Although Libya is a rather difficult place to visit due to its political tensions and strenuous visa receipt process, it is definitely worth seeing at least once in a lifetime.

What is so special about Libya? It combines Mediterranean allure and Sahara charm, Italian elegance and Berber ingenuity, Arab traditions and Roman heritage. For the sake of safety, during your visit, you will always be accompanied by a local guide. Note that currently, there are two parts of Libya - Western and Eastern. They are different not only in Morrocan/Tunisian and Egyptian influences, respectively, but also are ruled by two distinctive governments that sometimes have tensions. However, the current situation is said to be quite peaceful, so there is no reason to be afraid.

Note that Libya is one of the hottest countries in the world, and avoid visits between June and September. November to March is a much more enjoyable period in which you are likely to be able to explore the country's highlights without much effort. Come to Libya and embrace this ultimate off-the-beaten-track destination: it surely won't disappoint!
